Throughout history there have been various natural treatments for what ails you. The vast majority are just snake oil variants. Although a few have had substantial impact on the healthcare industry. CBD being one of the newest and most controversial to date.
What is CBD?
TheCBD Project states: “Cannabidiol—CBD—is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive or less psychoactive than THC-dominant strains makes it an appealing option for patients looking for relief from inflammation, pain, anxiety, psychosis, seizures, spasms, and other conditions without disconcerting feelings of lethargy or dysphoria.”
This seems appealing to those of us who suffer from any or all of these maladies. Though the FDA has taken it upon themselves to become Nature Nazis. And attempt to regulate the stuffing out of the CBD industry.
The manner in which they are doing this is appalling. They are effectively bullying the manufactures into complying with regulations. Regulations that are set to give Big Pharma the final say in all things drug related.

The following is an excerpt from a letter to a CBD manufacturer from the FDA:
“Your product is not generally recognized as safe and effective for the above referenced uses and, therefore, the product is a “new drug” under section 201(p) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 321(p)]. New drugs may not be legally introduced or delivered for introduction into interstate commerce without prior approval from the FDA, as described in section 505(a) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 355(a)]; see also section 301(d) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 331(d)]. FDA approves a new drug on the basis of scientific data submitted by a drug sponsor to demonstrate that the drug is safe and effective.“
So, basically, if a product is effective it must be handed over to Big Pharma to be turned into a money machine for them and not a treatment for those of us who may could actually benefit.
Now, mind you, this is a product that has been in existence for longer than anyone knows. It has been a well known fact that cannabidiol has shown very effective for a myriad of ailments. Why is it that, now that the people are actually seeing tangible results and turning AWAY FROM BIG PHARMA TO TREAT THESE AILMENTS, that Big Pharma has finally decided that it is worth a closer look? Money, maybe? Big Pharma is nothing if they are not about the money.
While Big Pharma has a pissing contest over the rights of Nature. More and more people every day are singing the praises of CBD and the benefits reaped from its usage.
Can Big Pharma eliminate the competition? Will the American People allow the government to deny them the ability to naturally treat ailments. They will rather charge an ungodly amount for the unnatural byproduct of their freaky science?
NAY, I SAY!
The American People are, for the most part, willing to go with the flow as long as it doesn’t directly affect their lives. For what it is worth, this will affect us all. The list of ailments benefitting from CBD products is growing every day. Anxiety, inflammation, and pain are problems for millions, if not billions, of people every day. Americans make up a pretty good cross-section of that number.
Whether we are protesting taxes on tea or oppression of people by tyrannical governments, we Americans will not (I hope) stand idly by and let our choices be dictated by a totalitarian entity, whether queen or Pharma.
As more and more people side with Nature in their choices…
…Big Pharma will fight to keep our choices those which they deem worthy (…of making them money). As long as the choice is left up the the informed consumer, their choices should not be limited to those created in a lab as opposed to those found in nature. Those most closely involved should be allowed to choose to do what is most beneficial for their situation. What might work for one may not work for another, this includes CBD.
CBD products have shown time and time again to be better than anything Big Pharma has produced for treatment of autism, anxiety, seizures, and many other ailments. For this reason alone, I do not foresee the end of CBD products.
While Big Pharma can try to regulate the dickens out of anything they so choose, they cannot eliminate the need or the demand. They can only make it more difficult to procure and supply. However, as one can see by the never-ending “War on Drugs”, that does not mean they can staunch the support or stem the flow of information and knowledge being presented by those in the research field that do not support their claims of need for FDA regulation.
The need for further research on this is absolutely imperative.
If the FDA has their way, CBD will soon become one of the many over-priced and highly unobtainable medicines from which many would benefit, were they able to gain access.
Bye bye “nature’s remedy”, hello overly regulated and pharmacologically fabricated CBD… it’s just like the original but more expensive!
My personal experience with CBD has been that the benefits by far outweigh the need for Big Pharma.
The natural product already exists in nature. It does not need to be chemically duplicated in order to line Big Pharma’s pockets. I don’t care for chemical remedies if homeopathic options are available.
While it is not a good treatment for everyone, as with any treatment. All pros and cons need to be known and weighed before deciding on any one method.
A turning point for me was when my nephew, who is severely autistic, was prescribed CBD as part of his treatment. He was once withdrawn and antisocial, having difficulties with communicating and basic human interaction.
He went through years of traditional treatments with little to no effectiveness. The endless appointments, medicines, and failures had taken their toll on him and his family.
When their doctor suggested they try cannabis and CBD, they were not very receptive. His father works with California’s troubled teens and youth and his mother is a fitness guru. The whole family lives an extremely healthy lifestyle. Marijuana and the like did not jive with their social or personal views on the subject and they were not interested. Period. End of subject.
How does one deny their child treatment based on social stigma, one might ask? It happens every day.
In this case, my sister in law and her husband researched the recommended CBD products and their side effects. Their research lead them to conclude that, if in fact, it can help their son, there is no reason why they shouldn’t try it. After all, Big Pharma had failed to provide anything that was beneficial in their case.
It wasn’t long before the change the treatment had on him was apparent to all who know the boy. The once quiet and withdrawn boy became socially active and was able to live a life as close to “normal” as possible, given his condition.
The guru and the “detention officer” became the latest in a long line of CBD converts.
It is easy to say “I’ll never…” until it comes to my children.
A parent would walk through lava to save their child, but would one allow said child to partake in treatment that challenges their views?
Many have and many more will continue to do so. This is a treatment that has great benefit. The science is irrefutable.
When one’s medical professional is telling one that this has shown to have actual notable benefits, regardless of what mainstream society and the media states, one should listen.
While I am a supporter of marijuana law reformation, I have not kept up with the medical advancement in that area. I read what comes across my path and speak out as much as possible. However, for the most part, I am just one person with no TV and no desire to “people”. I have learned that the best way to get knowledge is from the source, not from the mainstream media. Also, research must come from reliable sources. The nosey neighbor with a hankering for gossip is not one from whom to seek medical advice.
Big Pharma can try to regulate CBD and eliminate the competition.
They will do this by monopolizing the market but that will not eliminate the need.
The research I have done leads me to believe that we will not see the end of CBD products. The vast amount of information available to even the most staunch opponents cannot be ignored.
Nature has, time and time again, shown us that many times we need not look past our own gardens to find the remedies she has provided. CBD is just another one of nature’s ways of tending the flock.
